Advice process on external communication and quality policy for a primary school

A primary school had to deal with an influx of immigrant students and at the same time the departure of native students. The parents of native students expressed their concerns about this. Management and team did not have an immediate answer to this and had to reflect on the new situation. Jaffar Consultancy was asked to improve communication between school and parents.

A study was conducted through interviews with parents and teachers to find out exactly where the bottlenecks were. Native and immigrant parents appeared to be concerned about the quality of their children's education: do they receive enough attention in class (native parents), are they stimulated enough to perform better (immigrant parents)? Some parents and teachers also felt that more attention should be paid to enforcing school rules. There was a clear difference of opinion between native and immigrant parents about speaking their own language by immigrant parents (on the schoolyard, during drop-in mornings).

Through a parent evening with interactive scenes the results of the research were presented to the parents.

Advice on the areas of external communication, the quality of education and policy regarding school rules was issued to the upper school management.
