A promising start

In 2009, Jaffar Consultancy carried out a number of training modules on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior within the project “A promising start”. This project was an initiative of the Ministry of the Interior.

The program offered a group of special government trainees the opportunity to gain one year of work experience at a ministry in a (start-up) policy position. BIZA, BZK, SZW, VROM and V&W (RWS) are participating in 'Promising Start'. The participants in the project – six women and seven men – have successfully completed a high level of education (HBO/WO) both in their country of origin and in the Netherlands. In the country of origin they have usually worked at their own level, but the flight and the asylum procedure have left a gap in their CV - sometimes filled with poorly qualified work. 'KansRijke Start' wanted to help participants find a workplace that matches their level and interests. Jaffar Consultancy provided training components that focused on the personal competencies of the trainees. Some trainees were also personally coached by Jaffar Consultancy employees.

Contributions Growth Book Diversity

In 2009, the Ministry of the Interior published a “National Diversity Growth Book”. This is a loose-leaf edition with sections that appeared in the course of 2009 and 2010 and could be added to the collection, so that the book "grew" over the course of the year and from which it also takes its name.

The book has been distributed government-wide by BiZa to all managers and HRM advisors at the government ministries. The book pays attention in every possible way to the question of how government managers can deal with diversity in their departments.

Radi Suudi of Jaffar Consultancy was one of four external experts who were asked by the Ministry of the Interior to think about the content of the book and to help write it. He wrote two practice-based cases for the Growth Book and also participated with the other external experts in a final panel discussion that is also included in the book. Policy plan for the Multicultural Network of Government Civil Servants

The Multicultural Network of Government Civil Servants (MNR) wants to identify government civil servants with a dual cultural background within the government, so that their labor market position within the same government improves. It is an interdepartmental network that is affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior and emerged as an independent initiative from the Coaching and Diversity project of the A+O Fund Rijk, in which Jaffar Consultancy was also involved.

On behalf of the coordinator of the MNR, Jaffar Consultancy wrote the draft Multi-year Plan 2010-2014 for the MNR, in which both a strategic line and a concrete activity plan have been developed. For more information about the Multicultural Network see also www.multicultureelnetwerkrijksbedrijven.nl
