Strategic conversations in an intercultural context for professionals

Jaffar Consultancy offers a balanced package of workshops and training in strategic communication, with or without an intercultural framework.

The training courses are aimed at professionals in the non-profit sector: education, healthcare, government, and the judicial system. They are also aimed at confidential counselors, mediators, and neighborhood mediators.

All these professional groups are increasingly confronted with conversations with clients with a non-Dutch background.

In these situations, there are almost always divergent, culturally influenced communication styles between the professional and the client. And then misunderstandings, and even irritation and conflict, quickly arise.

Our training courses always have two key components. On the one hand, we provide insight into the key elements of intercultural communication. And on the other hand, we offer conversational techniques to effectively convey the message and determine what the other person truly understands. And what their motivations are, even if they sometimes express them with a lot of veiled language.

We offer our training courses in several formats: a short workshop of 60 to 90 minutes where we briefly cover the key points; a longer version of 3 hours (half day) where we also offer the option of having participants complete a practice assignment; and a 5,5-hour version (full day or two half days) where we can use the available time to provide more material and have participants complete practice assignments.

We always tailor the training content to your employees' specific professional practices in consultation with the client. We use interactive teaching methods and audiovisual resources, allowing us to truly capture the participants' attention.
